4 Months

4 Months

Klayton had his 4month doctor’s appointment yesterday. Here are his stats. 16 lbs 26 inches and 17 ¼ inches head circumference. She was impressed with his weight gain and thinks he look perfect. She says his teeth aren’t yet ready to come in and we will see the ridge on his lower jaw fade right before they pop so we will be looking for that. She gave us the okay to start solids but we are waiting at least until 6 months.

I look forward to his reaction to his first foods; avocado, green beans, asparagus, potato, squash, zucchini, broccoli, corn, carrot, and roasted red peppers (Justin’s favorite of course).

Several unfortunate things have happened since my last entry. Some of which are now a distant memory.
I had a nice visit to the ER in March for an abscess on my lower back. I thought it was just a broken tailbone from a spill down the stairs. The doctors said it was a good thing we finally came in since it was so large and would not have gone away on it’s own. They had to sedate me and cut it open drain it then pack with gauze. Apparently it was a lot worse than I had imagined. They gave me antibiotics and viccodin for the pain, which I have decided makes me sick.
Another thing that happened yesterday was the debacle with our car. This vehicle has been such a nightmare and hope that someday soon we can find a more reliable one that won’t have a major issue every 6 months. We noticed on Sunday that it was “steaming” and that we were out of coolant. We added more and then yesterday around 6 in the evening noticed it again was steaming. Checked the coolant and found it all gone. Not a good sign. We filled it will coolant again and hoped we would make it home and then to the mechanics today. About half way home the engine became very hot almost to the H and we immediately pulled off to the side of the interstate and thought if we let it cool a bit we could at least make it home. Checked the coolant we had just added less than 20 mins earlier and it was all missing, gushing out the bottom of the car. We tried to start the car so try to move it off the next exit, but now it won’t start. Klayton begins to cry and so do I. It just always seems like something goes wrong. Luckily I happen to have my cell phone and we call a tow truck. An hour and 80 dollars later we are at home with a broken car. We feverishly call our fathers hoping they would have advice, a simple fix and not a 1000 problem. Neither could say that it was all okay but gave us hope that it would not cost a fortune. We called the mechanic today and they are currently towing it and going to look at it tomorrow. We will see. We were holding out for a replacement vehicle until Justin was accepted into the Police Academy.

Good news on a final note. Jennie has found her ideal house and currently working on making an offer. We are contemplating the idea of moving in with her and renting out our house. It would be ideal for both of us. We already have two potential tenants and hope it all works out. So we might be moving in Jun.

Klayton is changing so much and it’s strange to look back on old pictures and see how much he has grown. We have decided to force him on to our schedule so he stays up until 11 or so until Justin gets home from work and then the three of us can get almost a full 8 hours. He has definitely mastered the tummy to back and almost immediately will flip to show how well he can do it. I try to keep him on his tummy as much as possible so he will work his abs. He loves to grasp and play with his toys, he loves his giraffe and the high chair toy Great Aunt Sue gave him for Yule. For those who know martial arts he does a half ebby. He likes to listen to us read and will grab at the pages and turn them sometimes several at a time. He also loves to hear me sing “Ladybug” and “Reach”. Justin wanted me to add that he is “awesome”…..”best baby ever, in the history of the world”
