5.5 months

We have started solids and we imagine Klayton saying “finally I’ve only been wanting them for forever!” We thought we would wait until 6 months, but Klayton has become very unsatisfied after nursing both breasts and he practically leaps out of our arms toward any food we have around. So we started with carrots and he was a little timid with them at first but the third time seemed very okay with the idea of this orange mush in his mouth. Then avocados, which he also didn’t like very much at first, too sticky I think, we then tried with more breast milk and it was a little easier for him. Then peas and he loved them from the first bite. Green beans, not as well received, and just today I tried pears, alternating with rice cereal. After a few bites he realized he liked the pears more than the cereal and decided he only wanted to eat them. I still snuck in a few bites of cereal to even it out.

No teeth yet, but the ridge on his lower jaw seems to have disappeared…or at least we think so, we don’t remember what it looked like before today. I will keep you posted and add pictures when they break the surface.

He started to “low” crawl on Thursday, which was kind of surprising since we weren’t expecting him to move on his own yet. We thought he was supposed to sit up or at least on hands and knees before crawling. He gets pretty excited and is getting pretty fast. He loves to “chase” after the red fleece circles I cut out for his shopping cart cover. I lay them out on the floor like a trail of red circles and he crawls to each one collecting them. He picks it up, puts it in his mouth sees the next one and goes for the it, so on and so on. It was pretty cute he got to circle #4 and ran out of places to put them; he had one in each hand and one in his mouth and he had to choose which one he wanted to keep.

He has also started to babble in somewhat distinguishable words, like mamma, no dada yet but he definitely knows that when he is upset to say mama and he gets me. Which is pretty heart melting, but also a little exhausting.

Jen closes on her house by the middle of June and gets possession by the 29th and we have to move in before July first before our tenants can move into our house. We have been working hard trying to get our house ready; we have only the bathroom and some electrical work to figure out still. I am getting very excited and a little anxious about moving again, even if it is only down the street.

Okay now for pictures
